The Hunter

Lend me your ears -
a story I want to tell you
of a hunter I know.
For many years
he has been away
from the place he so loves -
the bushveld.
Tales he tells,
of a time gone by.
Of stalking a raged buffalo;
of stories around the campfire.
In his eyes you can see
he longs for those days -
Now gone, and never to return.
He tells of elephants, eland;
and that ferocious cat, the leopard.
